2015 Election: UN Peace Ambassador calls for Sportsmanship

By Chigozie Uzosike

An Eminent Peace Ambassador of United Nations (UN), in Imo State, Dr. Mrs. Celine Nwakaego Anosike has called for spirit of sportsmanship among the politicians.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Dr. Anosike who has sued for peace in the world, especially in Nigeria during this election period called for more drive for peace, adding that she was impressed with the peaceful 28th March and 11th April elections that were relatively violent-free. She posited that even though there were pockets of violence here and there, bitterness, campaigns of calumny and impunity, “the peaceful atmosphere was encouraging”.

She called for greater peace to reign during the supplementary elections taking place in some States where elections were declared inconclusive, like Imo State this Saturday, while admonishing the good people of the country, especially of Imo State to tread with caution in the terrain of politics, insisting that election is not a do or die affair, but that whoever loses should embrace the winner.

Continuing, Anosike charged all and sundry to join in the crusade for peace because according to her, the scripture says “Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called the sons of God. She noted that no peace can thrive in an atmosphere of violence and rancor, adding that peace is achieved through peaceful co-existence of the different facet of the society. She however asserted that no ambition should take the life of a person.
