Ekiti: The aborted APC/ IGP Suleiman Abba deal
A strategic meeting where deal was struck to remove Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose with the support of the former Inspector General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, has been unveiled.
Reliable sources revealed that the meeting which took place last Saturday in Abuja at the APC Secretariat was convened by Chief Segun Oni.
Those at the meeting were Babade Kayode, Olusola Omolayo, Taiwo Olatunbosun,Sola Ajigbolamu, Femi Bamisile and Oladapo Karounwi among others.
They implored Dr Kayode Fayemi to convince Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola to support the APC lawmakers in their venture to impeach Governor Fayose, stressing that Fayemi has the key to Justice Daramola since he appointed him as the CJ.
The people who are primarily PDP defectors said that the CJ had refused to honour a letter from the APC lawmakers asking him to a constitute probe panel to try Governor Fayose because Fayemi had not intervened.
The group also contacted the former IGP requesting him to order the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State to provide police protection to the APC lawmakers coming into the House of Assembly to effect the removal of Governor Fayose.
While the IGP promised his support, he said he would have to wait for approval to come from General Muhammadu Buhari through letter for him to swing into action.
Meanwhile, the IGP had last Sunday told the CP that the APC lawmakers were coming to the state on Monday and asked him about the security situation which the CP said was not favourable.
Last Sunday, the APC lawmakers announced of their plan to come to the House of Assembly on Monday but were disappointed with the response of the CP.
However, IGP Abba was booted out of office last Tuesday by President Goodluck Jonathan for an undisclosed reason.
