Abia North Senatorial Seat Results Not Forged, Says Abia Commissioner

Abia State government says it is not true that the election results for Abia North senatorial seat recently held in the state was forged by the state government.

Briefing the press about the allegation by one Ihekwoaba Chukwugoziem that the result of the said election was forged, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. ACB Agbazuere, said the allegation is baseless, ridiculous and outrageous.

He stated that the results of the election in question was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and published in the national dailies, adding that the state government had nothing to do with the results as it is not the duty of Abia State government to declare election results.

Dr. Agbazuere said that besides that, once INEC declares results the best thing an aggrieved party should do in accordance with Section 133 of the electoral act as amended is to proceed to the court for redress.

He regretted that Chukwugoziem who is said to be an adhoc staff of INEC and a friend of former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu is compromised and protecting a parochial interest.
