Statement 2 April, 2015.

Subject: “CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT-ELECT MUHAMMADU BUHARI OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA”.

We, the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS), followed the election campaign championed by General Muhammadu Buhari with keen interest and the thorny issues of corruption and security that led to his historic victory in the Nigerian Presidential election called and held on 28-29 March, 2015. This is particularly important for the one and half billion people of Africa who believe a truly peaceful, corruption-free, stable and democratic Nigeria, Africa will now occupy its rightful place in the United Nations Security Council Permanent membership.

We warm heartedly congratulate Muhammadu Buhari on receiving the nod to lead Nigeria for entering into a new era of peace, stability, freedom, dignity and prosperity for Nigeria and entire Africa. We welcome also the statesmanship exhibited by outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat.

We extend our congratulations also to the good people of Nigeria for peacefully exercising their sovereign and democratic right to elect their leaders. The choice they have made is a tribute to their courage, as well as their determination to safeguard their freedom, dignity and keep the Nigeria firmly on the road to sustainable development. We salute them for designing and investing in Institutions that promote and defend the peaceful expression of a sustainable democratic environment.

We look forward to commence our activities in Nigeria in the interest of providing humanitarian services to the Nigerian people; particularly those who have suffered tribulations, agonies, pains and suffering under Boko Haram heinous attacks. We are committed to providing humanitarian services to Nigeria and help broker peace in the country's six year Boko Haram terror campaign. This is a view shared by the millions of Chavistas around the world.

With such conviction, we pray that God Almighty may Guide President-elect Muhammadu Buhari as he starts to steer the affairs of Nigeria and wish him success in all undertakings in his tenure as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
