I’m Not Under Pressure To Declare Inconclusive Results—Jega

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega has said that he is not under any pressure to declare inconclusive results.

This is even as he said that only two states completed their collation as at 6pm on Sunday, stressing that no original result sheet from the states have arrived Abuja to allow for the commencement of collation of the presidential election at the national level.

The INEC boss, who stated this at a press conference he addressed in Abuja preparatory to collation of results, also said that the Commission is investigating all complaints and lapses arising from the conduct of the election in Rivers State.

He further said that the Commission is working to ensure that all observed lapses during the presidential and National Assembly elections are corrected in the April 11, governorship and House of Assembly election.

He said: “Not more than 0.25 per cent of the total number of card readers failed out of the over one hundred and fifty that were deployed for the polls.”

Commenting on the alleged declaration of election results by the Director, Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), Femi Fani-Kayode, who alleged that the PDP won in 23 states, Jega said that could only be in his imagination.
