Ugwuanyi pledges end to cab operators’ woes in Enugu

The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has promised to put an end to the difficulties encountered by the commercial Cab and tricycle (KEKE) operators in Enugu State in the course of their business if elected governor of the state.

Ugwuanyi who made the pledge while interacting with the operators who trooped out in large numbers on Thursday to express their support for his gubernatorial bid, expressed displeasure over the approach of the insurance companies in dealing with cab operators.

He assured them of a better deal ahead, adding that his administration will set up a committee to address all the problems relating to the operation of the vehicles to enable them make a good living from the business and salvage them from further suffering.

'The issue has come to an end. If the insurance people have been manipulating you, it has come to an end today. The greatest objective of government is to salvage the suffering of our people. We won't want you to suffer. It won't happen again. We will set up a committee to address the problems. Exercise some patience, the committee will soon dialogue with you on the issues raised', said Ugwuanyi.

The Governorship candidate therefore told the crowd to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan, himself, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and other candidates of the PDP in the coming elections.

Earlier in his address, the spokesman of the operators and State Chairman of the Enugu Coal Cab Operators, Comrade Tony Chime, thanked Governor Sullivan Chime for the magnanimity and vision of his administration in introducing the taxi scheme to eradicate poverty and create employment among the teeming youths of Enugu State.

He however, regretted the unfriendly actions of the insurance companies which have imposed severe hardship on the operators, making it impossible for them to make ends meet and keep their vehicles functional.

The operators who declared their 'unalloyed support' for Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and other candidates of the PDP also promised to continue to contribute to the development of Enugu State.

Other party chieftain that attended the interactive forum includes: the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, the PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, the Director-General of PDP Campaign Organization, Chief C.O.C Egumgbe, among others.
