10 Adawama APC working committee members defected to PDP

By Tom Garba, Yola

The Adamawa state chapter of all progressives congress (APC) is facing a minor crack as 10 of its state central working committee (SWC) has today tilt their loyalty to toward the ruling party describing the APC as a party that has people that will not help in moving the state forward.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors,Rev Phineas Padio the public relations officer of the State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adamawa State chapter who defect to the PDP said their defection is very critical and important at this election period, a time to make or mar the entire state.

"This is a critical time because this is election period. More importantly, it is a period that for us in Adamawa it is a make or mar period; we have to get it right or further dip down the pit of underdevelopment. The coming election is therefore going to chart a cause for our dear state. It therefore requires serious reflection and rising above primordial and personal interests.

" Padio said
He further describe their u-turn to PDP from APC as a game of interest but should not be a parochial or primordial as certain interest has to take precedents.

"Yes, it is true that politics is a game of interest‎ but certain interests have to take precedent over others. Thus in a situation where public interest clash with parochial interest, the latter has to give way for overriding public interest. It is for this reason that any politician worth his name should have as his cardinal objective the promotion of collective good of the people. " He added

According to Padio that they careful review all the issues and problems, as well as personalities on offer aiming for the top job, they come to the selfless conclusion that no better person is right to take Adamawa back on track than the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

"Unfortunately, for months and weeks, we have been saddled with the responsibility of marketing candidates that we frankly cannot vouch for their capacity and competence especially in comparable with the candidates PDP parades in the State.

Honestly speaking, many of us here today had wanted to have Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the candidate of our party, the APC, for the Adamawa governorship while he was still with us. But by act of providence he left the party before could achieve our good intention. However, to quote Shakespeare, "a rose by whatever never it is called will remain sweet". ‎We believe wherever he goes Nuhu Ribadu would remain Nuhu Ribadu.

In conclusion, I want to inform you and through you the good people of Adamawa State that we that are here today, and our teeming supporters across the state, have decided to resign our membership of the APC and join the PDP with the intention of joining the team that has the capacity and intention of transforming our state.

" Said Phineas
"We believe the real change Adamawa needs today – the change from incompetence and cronyism to competent and selfless leadership is well represented by the PDP. Our decision is in the interest of Adamawa State. It is borne out of the patriotic flair to uplift our dear state and transform the lives of our people." He added
