The display of professionalism and military discipline by Nigeria

soldiers have been described as one of the factors that ensured the

peaceful conduct of elections and sustenance of the nation's nascent

democracy.
The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose, made this remark while

receiving the General Officer commanding (GOC) 2 Mechanized Division

of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Sanusi Muazu who was on a

tour of the commands and formations under his supervision.

The Governor, who received the GOC through his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo

Olusola, said that the military had always demonstrated high sense of

discipline, patriotism and dedication in the sustenance of democratic

governance in Nigeria.
He also lauded the officers and men of the Nigeria armed forces for

their efforts at curtailing the spread of insurgency in some parts of

the North-eastern Nigeria.
Dr. Fayose who eulogized the rank and file of the armed forces for

their efficiency in their constitutional role however appealed to the

GOC to check the excesses of some of the military personnel who had

been unnecessarily molesting innocent members of the public before

such officers smear the image of the military.
Earlier the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Mechanized Division,

Ibadan, Major General Sanusi Muazu had briefed the Governor that he

was in the state as part of his tour to familiarize himself with the

Military formations under his supervision, as he was recently deployed

to the Division.
He said his visit would afford him the opportunity to evaluate the

facilities on ground at all the Military commands and brigades in the

seven states which were in his jurisdiction.
While commending the Governor for the warm reception and good remark,

Major Gen. Muazu said Nigeria military will continue to work for the

sustenance of peace and political stability of the country and will

not deviate from its professional roles of defending the territorial

integrity of Nigeria.
The GOC was accompanied by senior officers of the Division on the visit.
