Borno Moves To Stop Suicide Bombings, Provides Metal Scanners To Schools

SAN FRANCISCO, February 27, (THEWILL) – In a bid to curb the spate of suicide bombings by Boko Hara insurgents in Borno State, the government has provided metal scanners to some private primary schools in Maiduguri, the state capital .

Presenting the scanners to some of the schools , Friday, the Chairman Committee on the Resuscitation of Primary Education System in the state, Dr. El-Nur Dongel, noted that the decision was informed by the need to ensure security in the schools and protect the students and teachers from insurgents' attacks.

He added that the scanners are to be deployed at the entrance of the schools to detect any explosive as he implored authorities of the beneficiary schools to be safety conscious.

Praising the security agents and members of the Civilian JTF for curtailing the activities of insurgents within the state capital, he listed the beneficiary schools to include Airport Private School, Police Private School, Capital Private School, Imam Malik Islamiyya, Women League, Darul-Salam, Sheikh Ibrahim Islamiyya and Thanawiyya

schools all located in Maiduguri.
