ACF URGES GENUINE RECONCILIATION IN PLATEAU

The Arewa Consultative Forum, a pro-North socio-cultural organisation, on Thursday called for genuine reconciliation to end the crises in Plateau State, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The ACF made the call at the end of its National Executive Council meeting in Kaduna.

A statement by the ACF National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Anthony Sani, said the group decried the untold hardship which the 'endless cycle of ethno-religious crises' inflicted on the people, and recommended dialogue as a panacea to the conflict.

'True reconciliation is not beyond the reach of the leaders and people of Plateau, because where there is the will, there is often a way,' the ACF said.

It commended the recent visit of the Ijaw National Congress to the ACF secretariat in Kaduna, and said it would rekindle the existing cordial relationship between the North and the Niger Delta for national unity and progress.

It announced that the forum would celebrate its 10th anniversary between April 29 and 30 with various activities, including public lectures on corruption and social conflicts.
