Yola Power Company Gets Marching Order To Reconnect Biu

BEVERLY HILLS, February 13, (THEWILL) – The Yola Distribution Company has been giving a marching order to reconnect electricity supply to Biu, one of the biggest towns in Borno State, within the next 48 hours.

The Minister of State for Power, Hon, Mohammed Wakil, gave the order, Thursday, after a closed door meeting with management of the company in his office in Abuja.

The minister's order was contained in a statement signed by the minister's Special Adviser on Media, Olawale Rasheed.

According to the minister, the minister told the management of Yola Distribution Company that the Emir of Biu has given assurance of safety for the personnel of the firm in Biu as well as committment that the residents will fulfill their obligation once power is restored.

Wakil, who said he appreciated the company for operating despite the difficult circumstances in the North East, however gave his word that the leaders and youth of Biu have agreed to create and sustain positive operating environment for the Disco.

” We appreciate your difficult operating environment. We accept there are challenges. But the issues are resolved. Your men are safe. I have assurances of leaders of the community. Provide light and our people will pay their bills.

” We will support you in all manners possible. Be assured you and your staff are safe in Biu. All your requests will be looked into. In the meantime, you are to reconnect Biu within 48 hours,” the minister was quoted as saying.

In his response, the leader of the Yola Disco confessed that the Boko Haram crisis had made their operations very difficult, saying the situation is affecting their business returns.

While urging residents of the town to pay their power bills regularly, he promised to reconnect power to the town as requested by the minister.
