EFCC declares Nyako, son wanted

Former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has been declared wanted by the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).

Also wanted by the EFCC is the son of the ex-governor, Abdul Aziz Murtala Nyako, a retired Naval officer.

According to EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, “Both are wanted in a case of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering.”

Nyako was impeached last year by the Adamawa State House of Assembly over issues of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Since then, Nyako’s whereabouts have been unknown, for fear of imminent arrest by the anti-graft agency. Nyako’s decision to decamp to the opposition party, All Progressive Congress (APC) was said to have worsened his chances of having a smooth ride after his impeachment.

It is not certain if his son, Abdul Aziz is in the country, EFCC authorities are said to have beamed their searchlight on Adamawa State and other possible locations, he could be hiding.
