Maiduguri Attack: Wakil Commends Military Over Gallant Operation

The military has continued to receive kudos for its gallantry in repelling Sunday's Boko Haram invasion of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The latest commendation came from the Minister of State for Power, Hon. Mohammed Wakil, who on Saturday hosted the President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Team at a rally in Ramat Square in Maiduguri amid tight security.

Wakil, who is also the leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State , described the military 's routing of the insurgents as heroic, saying it was in tandem with President Jonathan's avowed commitment end insurgency in the North East.

He said the military performed wonderfully in ensuring that the president's campaign visit to Maiduguri was hitch-free as he condoled with those who lost their loved ones in the crossfire with the insurgents on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the minister said the military's gallantry was “heroic ” and “a demonstration of President Jonathan's commitment to tame and wipe out the insurgents.”

According to Wakil, ” On behalf of our good people of Borno State, we commend the military, allied security agencies and Civilian JTF for successfully repelling attacks on Maiduguri. Our military proved that the turning point in the war against insurgents is around the corner.

“Our military is being re-equipped; our forces are been re-trained and we will surely recaptured all territories. We commend our servicemen operating under difficult circumstances. Nigeria and people of Borno are grateful.”

He also condoled with the Monguno people for the loss during the attack, praying that Almighty Allah will “grant our military victory over the insurgents.

According to him, ” On behalf of Mr. President and other leaders of PDP, I convey our heart felt condolence. As Mr. President said on Saturday
