Houston, Texas: The Governor of Anambra State of Nigeria, Chief Willie Obiano, has assured the international business community and Nigerians in the Diaspora who wish to invest in his State should take advantage of our one stop agency Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) to make such investments without the rigmarole of dealing with multiple, incoherent agencies and offices.

He made the comments while speaking as the special guest of honor at the USAfrica interactive forum on Friday January 9, 2015 in Houston, Texas, where he received the award of 'Nigeria's Governor of the Year' 2014 from the international multimedia networks and public policy organization, USAfrica. The venue of the event was the Hilton Hotel Towers at Westchase.

He arrived at the event accompanied by the First Lady of Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano and their daughter, 'Gechi.

The former banker and auditor also listed prudent management of the resources of the State, economic enablers and aggressive attack on all forms of criminals as counting among the top factors in the successes being recorded in his first year in office, this March 2015.

He hinted to the USAfrica editorial team that “even as my government is being commended for several achievements, we are going to achieve more significant projects in 2015 such as a cargo airport and an inland seaport. The flyover projects around Awka will be ready for use.”

On the other hand, Chief Obiano whose performance within one year since his election under the banner of APGA party has been widely commended also cautioned that the 50% drop in the per barrel unit price of oil since he took office in March 2014 has affected the size of funds given from the federal government.

Significantly, he is returning almost a year to the same day and month and the same multimedia platform where he first spoke — alongside such guests as U.S Congressman Al Green — following his election.

In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Chido Nwangwu, the Founder & Publisher of USAfrica and the first African-owned, U.S.-based professional newspaper published on the internet, USAfricaonline.com, described “Gov. Obiano as a high-achiever who has dominated his environment in Anambra and has within 11 months left indelible marks on the Anambra landscape. I think he's a technocrat who has made Anambra better and a humanitarian.”

Chido noted that why Obiano bagged the prestigious recognition, derived from the fact that “since taking over the mantle of leadership of Anambra State, the banker turned politician has, with purposeful zeal attracted investments and with the courageous heart of a bull, confronted the criminals and miscreants who had unleashed mayhem and gripped the peace loving people of the state in the throes of trepidation, fear and death…. In the course of the USAfrica Governance Index assessment across the State and other parts of the country, we reached the conclusion that Gov. Obiano has not only done very well in impacting various sectors of Anambra but he has shown that a truly transformative leadership is possible within a relatively short period and utilizing very modest resources to push the great and sometimes boisterous Anambra State to its better heights and security.”

USAfrica — with almost 23 years of professional journalism and multimedia publishing business from its headquarters in Houston, Texas — has been acclaimed by the CNN, The New York Times, international scholars and public policy leaders as the largest and arguably the most influential African-owned, U.S-based multimedia networks.

Obiano is on the cover of the latest edition of USAfrica magazine. The video of his remarks will appear on USAfricaTV via Youtube.
