Nations of the middle east and some parts of Asia cannot continue to do things in the ways of the middle ages....in obscene defiance to the rest of the world. Though many landmark scientific break-throughs by way of rare discoveries and inventions are attributed to Arabs....in medicine....physics....mathematics....,
these exploits have not been built upon in the core areas of governance, egalitarianism and human rights.
Many Arab nations are still kingdoms...albeit with rubber-stamp parliaments hand-picked by all-powerful kings! Most state wealths are held in a stangle-hold by royal familes and members of the royal courts. Officially, their people are still regarded as "subjects"....not citizens....
Such subjects are still beheaded for mundane infractions and jailed for "insulting" their kings!
The media is sorely censored. Journalists are needlessly jailed, tortured and killed. Social media activists are hunted and hounded.
Women are barred from driving....and holding estates.... They are required to obtain permissions from their husbands to do little things....or have other male escorts....like brothers, uncles, fathers....or even sons!
They still prefer to consume flesh from only animals that have been painfully slain....rejecting all processed meat products except live animals for fear of non-slaughtered ones.
Perhaps they may find it a bit more worisome to behead their nationals if they have some feelings for their animals!
Social constructs must be re-modified and re-engineered to align with international best practices and realities of the times.
Social norms must be dynamic....not static.....including cultural cum religious norms.
Arabs would do well to welcome change....and so should Islam....as change is the only permanent thing in life.
If nations cannot afford to act at cross-purposes with international norms, it would be foolhardy for individuals to expect to dwell in anomy!
It is not the intention of this writer to lead readers to believe that only Arabs painfully kill their animals....or only muslims....as such practices still abound in most third world nations....
The hard truth however is that Christians are as guilty as Muslims in this wise!
Perhaps the real essence of my post is that if our consciences would be pricked for avoidable animal pain and suffering, we would think twice before inflicting pain on fellow men....
