By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze

Come 5th December 2009 by 11am, the sleepy town of Angulama in Asari-Toru

Local Government of Rivers State will play host to an unprecedented throng

of visitors- the first of its kind ever witnessed in that town since its

inception- as the community welcomes the Rivers State Executive Governor,

Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and his entire cabinet; the Speaker of

the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry and members of the House

of Assembly to a Grand reception in honour of her son and the first

Commissioner to be appointed from that town, Barrister Osima Ginah,

Honourable Commissioner of Urban Development.
All indigenes of Angulama have been mobilized to give their son a

befitting reception for not only being an outstanding Ambassador of the

town but for changing the fortunes of the town since his appointment as

Commissioner. The entire town is already in a festive mood in anticipation

of Saturday's celebration which would have the Governor Chibuike Rotimi

Amaechi as Special Guest of Honour; Chief Hon. Andrew Uchendu, Chairman of

the South - South Caucus of the National Assembly and the Representative,

Ikwerre/Emuoha Federal Constituency as Chairman and His Majesty King

(Prof.) TJT Princewill, Amanyanbo of Kalabari Kingdom as the Royal Father

of the day.
Speaking on the upcoming event, Rivers State AC and FOOPP Leader, Prince

Tonye Princewill stated thus, “This event is not only to give honour to a

deserving recipient, but an opportunity to formalize the divine marriage

between opposition political parties in Rivers State and the unique

revolutionary government of Amaechi..the gathering in Angulama is symbolic

in its representation of total acceptance of differing political views

united for the common purpose of moving the state forward””.

Chief Hon. Ngoye Igobo, Chairman Organising Committee of the occasion,

who is also a trail blazer from the town being the first and only elected

member of the State House of Assembly from the town till date remarked

thus, “..To all indigenes of Angulama, 5th December, 2009 will remain

evergreen in our minds as a memorable day in the history of the town”. He

however lamented that Since the creation of Asari-Toru Local Government

Area over 20 years ago and indeed amongst the three Kalabari LGA's, Rt.

Hon.Chibuike Amaechi is the first Governor to appoint a Commissioner from

any other Community outside Buguma, Abonnema and Bakana within these three

LGA's. Furthermore, he stated that prior to this administration,

Government presence was limited to uncompleted projects that include the

abandoned NDDC Jetty construction project awarded in 1994. The Primary

School Building, which gave Hon. Osima Ginah, the foundation for his

education was built by the community just as the town hall.

Chief Y.O.C Georgewill, Chairman of Chiefs and Elders Council reiterated

that the community will ever remain indebted to Gov. Amaechi for this

honour done it by the appointment of a son of the soil into the exalted

office of Cabinet member in the Rivers State Government.

Highlight of the occasion will include a launch of a N1B Angulama Appeal

Fund for the community facilitated by Barr Osima Ginah aimed at

complimenting Government's developmental efforts in the community with Mr.

Ben Bruce the Chairman of the Silver Bird Group as Chief Launcher.

Reacting to the outpour of goodwill, Barrsister Ginah stated thus, “...I

am overwhelmed with all that is happening and what can I say except to

express my heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty God that has counted me

worthy of this elevation in so short a time.”
