DELTA GOVT CAN IDENTIFY ILLEGAL INSTITUTIONS
lta State Ministry of Higher Education yesterday debunked a report that most of the tertiary institutions in the state were illegal, but acknowledged the existence of privately-owned illegal training institutes.
In a statement signed by the ministry's Public Relations Officer, Etetafia U. S., the ministry noted that “at no time did the Commissioner for Higher Education say that no fewer than 95 per cent of privately-owned tertiary institutions that offer degree programmes on academics and professional courses in Delta State were operating without government approval.
“The commissioner said government knew those privately owned training outfits that are not registered with the state and offer academic and professional courses at post secondary level, including computer training schools that award certificate and diploma in information technology; catering and hotel management, colleges of fashion and design, as well as those of cosmetology.”
