Rangers midfielder Lewis Macleod is undergoing a medical with Championship side Brentford, according to Sky sources.

The 20-year-old, who was drafted into Gordon Strachan's Scotland squad for the recent game against the Republic of Ireland, has established himself as a mainstay in the Rangers first team over the past two seasons.

Macleod, who made his Rangers debut as an 18-year-old in the lowest tier of Scottish football in 2012, has scored eight goals for the Glasgow side in the Scottish Championship this season.

Newcastle and Burnley were reportedly showing interest in Macleod, who has been at Rangers since the age of 10, but Brentford appear to have beaten the Premier League dou to his signature.

Rangers, who are thought to need around £8m to see them through the remainder of the season, are believed to have accepted a £1m offer for Macleod, who has represented Scotland at every level from U16 to U21.
