Rivers PDP: Nine Guber Aspirants Puncture Wike's Reconciliation Claim

A claim by controversial former Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike that 15 aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants in Rivers State have sheathed their swords may have further deepened the cracks in the state chapter of the party.

Wike's media aide, Mr. Simon Nwakudu had Friday issued statements claiming that 15 aggrieved PDP governorship aspirants in the state had reached a truce with his boss.

The statement was followed by a staged meeting of Wike apologists with the former minister, after which one aspirant, Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack, who claimed to be leader of Riversconverge, said the aspirants had resolved to support Wike.

At the staged meeting, another Wike leg man, one Victor Richard posed as an aspirant and claimed to speak “on behalf of the 16 aggrieved PDP governorship aspirant.”

Richard, Pointblanknews.com gathered, is a contractor with the Ministry of Education and was Wike's agent in the sham congress which the aspirants have rejected.

“Our attention has been drawn to certain news reports in both electronic and print media including a Web site named: Riversconverge to the effect that 15 nameless PDP governorship aspirations have met with PDP leadership and the candidate, Chief Nyesom Wike.

“We wish to state unequivocally that we were neither aware of nor were we part of any such meeting, and did not subscribe to any decision arising therefrom, particularly when it is realized that majority of those who attended the meeting were not governorship aspirants.

We further state that we did not authorize the use of our names for such a meeting and any person or persons doing so are only striving to achieve their inordinate ambition.

We will be in a position to make our considered decision on the matter of PDP governorship ticket known at the appropriate time.

“We stand for justice, equity and fairness and must fight for our cause within the party.

We advise our dedicated supporters and Rivers people at large to remain calm and resolute as they look up to God.

The statement was signed by Honourables Pidomson Gabriel, Dumo Lulu Briggs, Mrs Biobele Dodi Odesola and Chief Hon. Pawariso Horsefall.

Other aspirants who signed the statement include Major Lancelot Anyanya(Rtd), Hon Bernard Mikko, Engr .S.A. Ngerebara, Barr. Fafaa Dan Princewill, and Mr. Atamuno Atamuno on behalf of others.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that Wike resorted to blackmailing the aspirants with the staged meeting, having bought over Walson-jack whose wife is Chief of Staff in Bayelsa state.

Sources close to Wike's staged meeting told Pointblanknews.com that some strategists had warned on the dangers of hiring non-aspirants to a meeting of governorship.

“We told them, but Wike said 'it doesn't matter!' We also warned against televising the event. What we did was to ambush Walson-Jack and a few others. If you watched the clips on AIT, you would notice how frightened they were. Well, they have sold their souls to the devil. It is a choice they will have to live with forever,” offered the source.
