OPEN LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT ON T.A. ORJI’S POLITICAL QUANDRANGLE IN ABIA STATE: WHAT TO DO
Those who say nothing in the face of tyranny must endure the rule of idiots (Edmund Burke) Evil thrives because good men do nothing (Wole Soyinka). Only challengers, not discussants of issues get change (Kindness Jonah).
What has happened in Abia State PDP primaries is a slap in the face of justice. We have already documented the abrasive tendency. Mr. President, our fluterring the dove coats are for you to take action as PDP leader nationwide to stop the anomaly. T.A. Orji is adjudged by all but his cronies as the worst performing Governor in Africa. Go to the commercial city of Aba. Governance by press, dividend of democracy in the television, performing Governor in the radio, are all the know-it-all of this unfortunate government of oil rich state of Abia. Where is the money? He and his family and few cronies corner it to the chagrin of all Abians.
Yet, the air waves carry Best Governor of the year, an Award the papers have already carried in Nigeria. Do you see Mr. President why we as human rights activists are raising the stakes, sounding alarm for all to see and hear that T.A. Orji of Abia State is 100% a failure in governance of Abia State. The newspapers, radio and television, could be saying contrary, I care not a blooper. As an activist, the truth must be said, and that truth is that T.A. Orji is a blatant failure in Abia State.
Mr. President the options to stop further degradation and continental shelf erosion of polity and sound mind in Abia State is to stop T.A. Orji political dynasty. To achieve this:
1. He himself called T.A. Orji must be STOPPED from going to the Senate forthwith. Any other party may win Abia Central Senatorial seat.
2. His son, T.A. Orji Jnr, must be STOPPED from winning slot of PDP to go to Abia State House of Assembly. Other parties may win.
3. His Wife must be STOPPED from winning Umuahia North-South Federal Constituency. Other parties may win.
4. Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is the son T.A. Orji's sister married to Ngwa man from Obi Ngwa. He is qualified to rule Abia Sate. But coming under the umbrella of T.A. Orji leaves much to be desired. He could be allowed being from the side that should produce Governor, but he should be stripped of T.A. Orji's aura of politics.
Alternatively, he could be voted out for another party whose flag bearer is from Abia South to win gubernatorial elections. The important thing is that T.A. Orji political dynasty in Abia State must be dismantled.
Time is not late for Mr. President as the party leader of PDP to call emergency meeting of stakeholders in Abia State to cancel PDP primaries without fear or favour. Do it now or lose Abia State to either APC or APGA.
