Intrigues and drama continue to be the rule of the game at the ongoing National Convention of the All Progressives Congress as three aspirants for the presidential ticket of the party have denied stepping down for a former Head of State, Major General Muhammadu Buhari.

The aspirants are the Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha; and the Publisher of Leadership newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah.

While Leadership newspaper carried a story denying such a move, the media aides of Kwankwaso and Okorocha said it was far from the truth.

It was gathered that there was however an overture by a National Leader of the APC and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the aspirants to step down for Buhari.

It was gathered that a meeting called at the instance of Tinubu, late on Tuesdaynight, was botched as the trio were not sufficiently convinced on the need to step down.

A source privy to the meeting told The Eagle Online that the meeting ended in a deadlock as the aspirants refused to yield to the pressure mounted on them.
