Mark shuts National Assembly as security personnel, lawmakers fight over Tambuwal

Senate President, David Mark, has during the Thursday plenary, announces the shutting down of the National Assembly till Tuesday next week.


This was precipitated by an earlier pandemonium at the National Assembly as policemen and SSS operatives tried to stop the speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, from entering the premises.


THE CITIZEN gathered that despite the canisters of tear-gas thrown by security men could not stop Tambuwal as he was forcibly taken into the complex by angry lawmakers protesting the action of the security personnel.


It was said that the embattled Speaker trekked from the gates to the main complex, a distance of over 500 metres.


As a result of the fracas, Senate President, David Mark and several senators and many reps were also delayed for hours at the gate before they finally entered the assembly.
