Again bomber hits Bauchi town

A female suicide bomber late Sunday morning detonated an explosive device strapped around her in Azare, a major town in Bauchi State, killing herself and at least 12 other persons.

This is the second of such attack on the town in less than two weeks.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that the suicide bomber, a dark young girl, was blown into two by the force of the explosive.

The State Police Commissioner, Lawal Shehu, confirmed the attack to newsmen, but failed to provide details on the casualty figure.

He merely stated that rescue efforts were ongoing.

A security source told Pointblanknews.com that the recent trend of using female suicide bombers has fueled concern in security circles that the bombers may be hostages of Boko Haram.

“The female suicide bomber that hit Kotangora a few weeks ago was young and dark-skinned. Ditto for the one that hit Azare. Our concern is that they may be innocent hostages who may have been wired with explosives which were thereafter detonated by remote control,” he stated.
