APC Lawmakers' Plot To Frustrate Fayose's Govt Will Fail - Gov's Aide

By Lere Olayinka

Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly of working in tandem with their party's agenda of frustrating the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, describing the plot at "an evil plot that will not succeed."

Olayinka, who described claim by the APC lawmakers that the House of Assembly refused to approved the Local Councils' Caretaker Committee sent by Governor Fayose because of a pending court case as a "shameless lie", added that it was obvious that the APC lawmakers were not saying the truth.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the governor's aide asked the lawmakers whether the court case being referred to was not in existence when the House of Assembly approved the Local Council Caretaker Committee appointed by former governor, Kayode Fayemi in July, this year.

He said; "no amount of blackmail, falsehood and campaign of calumny against Governor Fayose by the APC lawmakers and their Lagos based political merchants will prevent the governor from achieving his set objectives for Ekiti State."

Speaking further, Olayinka said; "It is on record that on July 1, 2014, the PDP filed a suit number HAD/75/2014 at the High Court of Justice, Ado-Ekiti, challenging the creation of new Local Council Development Authority by the Fayemi-led government.

"One of the relief sought in the suit was 'A declaration that any Local Government or LCDA created by Governor Fayemi in contravention of the 1999 Constitution as amended is null, void and of no effect.'

"Despite the pendency of this suit, the House of Assembly still approved the appointment of Caretaker Committees into the new LCDAs and existing Local Councils.

"Isn't it therefore hypocritical that the same APC lawmakers that approved Fayemi's request to appoint Local Council Caretaker Committee members not-minding the pendency of the case filed by the PDP are now using the same case to justify their rejection of the Caretaker Committee appointed by Fayose?

"Should a court case that did not prevent the APC lawmakers from approving Fayemi's Local Councils' Caretaker Committee now prevent the same House of Assembly from approving Fayose's own?

"Definitely, the APC lawmakers are being economical with the truth. They should rather tell the public the 'operation make Ekiti ungovernable for Fayose' agenda that they their leaders in Lagos have been told them to pursue instead of lying that court case prevented them from approving Fayose's Local Councils' Caretaker."
