Towards 2015: Buhari declares presidential bid today

By The Citizen

Former military head of state and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, will today hold his presidential declaration, ahead the 2015 election.

Though he had earlier scheduled the event for October 8, it was re-scheduled for today in what a source close to him said was done to enable him to conclude his nationwide consultation.

The declaration, now scheduled for today, will hold at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Speaking in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday, Buhari said the forthcoming general election would provide opportunity for the progressives to mobilise and win or go under for good.

He said he was contesting the 2015 election, in furtherance of his quest to make the country more secured for its people and coming generations.

At the Government House, Buhari formally invited Governor Rotimi Amaechi and his supporters to join him at his formal declaration to contest the 2015 election.

'I have been very close to Rivers State and I have been very disturbed by the relationship between Rivers State and the centre.

'I admire the courage of the governor here; the way he has taken it and maintained control of the state. With the infrastructure I have seen on ground, Amaechi has carved his name in the history of the state,' he said. - Nigerian Tribune.
