AKPABIO AT PDP SECRETARIAT OVER ATTAH'S SUSPENSION

Suspension of  former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Victor Attah, by the state's chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  took the centre stage at the PDP National Secretariat,  as the state Governor, Godswill Akpabio, and the state chairmen were drilled by  the national leadership of the party.

THISDAY gathered that the suspension  over alleged  anti-party activities, was announced last week by  state chairman of the party,  Uwem Ita Etuk, who  said the decision was final and irreversible.

The decision had caused disquiet at the top echelon of the party as the state chapter was perceived to have gone beyond its powers in suspending a member of the party's Board of Trustees without recourse to the National Working Committee.Akpabio arrived PDP national secretariat at about 3.10 p.m. and went into a closed-door meeting with members of the National Working Committee in the office of the National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor.

It is believed in some quarters that the suspension  is not unconnected with the feud between him and  Akpabio, who used party machinery in the state against him.PDP National Publicity Secretary, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, confirmed to newsmen after the meeting which ended around 4.50p.m., that the suspension was discussed at the meeting.

He, however, declined to give further  details, saying  the party will make formal statement on the matter after meeting other parties involved in the suspension saga.
