The Independent National Electoral Commission has called off a consultative stakeholders meeting earlier scheduled to commence Wednesday ahead of the October 11 governorship bye-election in Adamawa State.

This came on the heels of a federal high court on the resignation of the former deputy governor, Bala Ngilari.

The court said the resignation was null and void because it was not routed through the the Governor Nyako.

The consultative meeting with stakeholders was scheduled by INEC to find out ways of conducting the election in the face of security challenges in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu confirmed this in Abuja

He said, “The stakeholders meeting has been cancelled because of the Court ruling; the chairman who ordered the cancellation said he has been briefed based on the court order and in compliance with the rule of law.”

Idowu also said a formal press statement would be issued later from INEC Headquatres.
