By Emeka Ozumba

Governor Willie Obanoi of Anambra State yesterday mourned the death of Mr Dimgba Igwe, Vice Chairman of The Sun Publishing outfit, describing it as a sad loss which had depleted the ranks of the nation's best minds in journalism.

The Anambra governor said the tragic circumstances of Mr Igwe's end in a hit and run mishap made his death a painful loss for every Nigerian. We have suddenly been robbed of a very bright star in our national firmament, Obiano said in a statement.

'He was a professional journalist, a gifted writer, thinker and analyst. He practiced his calling with felt passion and will be counted among the path – finders in modern Nigerian journalism. I think for a long time, he will be remembered for the breezy journalism of the Weekend Concord era of which he was a co – pioneer' Obano noted.

The Governor said the consolation was that the late Igwe sought to use the influence of his vocation to improve the lot of Nigerians and the fortunes of the country.

Chief Obiano while condoling with the family, The Sun newspapers and fans of the departed columnist, asked Nigerians to emulate those attributes of the deceased which will help move the country forward.
