Ribadu, Six Others Withdraw From Adamawa Governorship Election
Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and six others have withdrawn from contesting tomorrow
ruling PDP primary for the Saturday, October 11, 2014 Adamawa governorship
bye election.
Others who withdrew from the race include: Auwal Tukur; Aliyu Idi Hong,
Andrawus Sawa; James Barka; Gen. Aliyu Kama; Markus Gundiri and Abubakar
Girei.
Ribadu who was granted waiver last Friday alongside two other aspirants to
contest the primary announced his withdrawal after a closed door meeting
with President Goodluck Jonathan last night in Abuja.
Those who will take part in the Governorship primaries scheduled for
Saturday are: Former Political Adviser to President Jonathan, Ahmed
Gulak; former Military administrator of Lagos state, Buba Marwa, Ahmed
Modibbo, Dr. Umar Ardo, Acting Governor Umaru Fintiri, and Jerry Kumdisi.
Under the new arrangement only those who stepped down are eligible to
contest for the 2015 Governorship election according to an agreement
reached at the meeting with Senate President David Mark at the
Presidential Villa with all the aspirants.
