Patient With Ebola-like Symptoms Causes Panic At Delta Hospital

SAN FRANCISCO, September 04, (THEWILL) - The admission of a man with Ebola-like symptoms Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has caused panic in the facility and city especially as news spread that the patient was vomiting, stooling and had a fever.

Just two Nigerian cities - Lagos and Port Harcourt have confirmed cases of Ebola, which has so far killed seven persons.

The hospital located at the Anwai Road end of Nnebisi Road witnessed very minimal traffic Thursday when a local reporter stringing for THEWILL visited the facility.

The reporter said though doctors and nurses were at work there were very few persons at the facility.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Leo Erhunmwunse, however told journalists that the blood sample of the patient had been taken for tests and urged the public to remain calm.

It was not clear as at press time where the man was transported to the hospital from.
