Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Deputy to Governor Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso of

northern Nigeria state of Kano has broken his silence over his ambition to

govern Kano after 2015, saying he is interested in the guber-race.

Ganduje during a meeting with Kano Correspondent Chapel, Nigeria Union of

Journalists (NUJ) said his willingness to subject himself to succeed his

boss, if given the chance was borne out of his large wealth of experience

and urge to build on the gigantic legacies of Governor Kwankwaso.

'I'm interested in the race, but I have not declared my intention to

run for the Governorship race in 2015. If I say I am contesting, it is no

news; but if I say I am not contesting, that is the news.â€

Ganduje, however, stated that he would be willing to wait until the

Kwankwasiyya political movement of the Kano All Progressive Congress (APC)

decides who will carry the flag.
Ours is a party that has just been put in place”the APC—it is a

merger party. So, I will urge you to wait until the time when there will

be news or no news. I am interested, but I have not declared, we are

still consulting,  Ganduje added.
He also spoke on Polio eradication.
Ganduje appealed to Kano residents to respond positively to the campaign

of stamping out Polio in the state, noting that the state government in

collaboration with community leaders, the Dangote Organization and

international donor agencies, has been able to curb the spread of the

virus in the state.
Ganduje, however, regretted that the past administration stopped the Polio

Immunization programme for sometime which had devastating implications

where the virus spread, coupled with religious colouration, so, the

effect is what we are still battling with. People had erroneous belief

that the United States of America and Israel wanted to control birth,

particularly in the North but this is not true.
He further stated that, but with the concerted efforts of the state

government and other collaborative organizations, we are on it and we

are succeeding, as there is no case of non-compliance now; with the

involvement of His    bah and sometimes, we have no option than to enforce it.

So, at the moment, we have recorded only four cases due to the routine

immunization which the government applied by going from house-to-house.

Anybody who is against polio immunization programme is against

humanity.
