OYO SPENDS ₦1.1B ON FERTILISER

Alao-Akala said this in a goodwill message at the opening of the 34th annual conference of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN).

Mr. Alao-Akala, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry, Bayo Lawal, said N720 million was spent on the commodity in 2009.

He said another N380 million was spent in 2010 to purchase 920 tones of inorganic fertilizer.

Mr. Alao-Akala said government was investing a lot in the study of soil science to assist farmers to know the type of soil to apply the various fertilizer brands.
