BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 28, (THEWILL) - The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to embarrass the state governor-elect , Ayodele Fayose, through the instrumentality of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

A statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, which was made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Friday, alleged that the leadership of the APC converged in the house of the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who doubles as the national leader of the party in Bourdillon area of Ikoyi in Lagos to perfect the plan.

According to the statement, the Ekiti election was reviewed at the meeting in view of what next could be done to upturn the victory of the PDP candidate and the Governor-elect to their side through judicial manipulations.

The meeting which was allegedly attended by the newly-elected national chairman of the party , Chief Odigie Oyegun; former national interim chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, the party's national Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed , former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, the governor of Lagos State, Raji Fashola, some retired judges and lawyers on the payroll of the former Lagos State governor and other notable leaders of the party across the country.

They were alleged to have tried all in vain to find fault in the election, hence their resort to another means of tackling the situation to wade off the shame which they have incurred by the ignominious defeat suffered in hand of PDP.

Oluwawole stated further that those who attended the meeting were said to have made frantic efforts to consider the issue of 'photochromic rigging' as postulated by one of the national officers of APC but for lack of credibility and legal viability, the idea was dropped.

He said it was at this stage that a source in the meeting said one of the leaders suggested that Fayose could be embarrassed by compromising the EFCC to file fresh charges against him knowing that the governor-elect's counsels had rubbished the EFCC charges in the court.

At the meeting, it was also elected to heighten propaganda against the governor-elect in two national dailies aside the APC's official paper as the papers and their columnists have been paid huge sum of money for the assignment.

Oluwawole alleged that part of the assignment given to these columnists was to always twist anything the governor-elect had said.

He alleged that the meeting unanimously agreed that the national leader of the party, Tinubu, should go ahead and use all his connections to compromise the EFCC to enable it present the fresh charges in September.

According to Oluwawole, part of the alleged agreement with the EFCC was to always issue press statement to embarrass the governor-elect, saying one of such was the one that came out in the Punch last week by the EFCC that Fayose has a case to answer..

Oluwawole added that a sum of N500million was allegedly earmarked for the execution of the plots while another five million Dollars was allegedly set aside to woo EFCC officers after the judge that would handle the matter would have been settled allegedly with N200 million from the initial sum raised.

The statement also alleged that the time to execute the agenda has been fixed for sometime in September so as to truncate the swearing-in of the governor-elect Ayo Fayose in the following month of October.

As a follow-up to grand plot, the defeated APC governor, Kayode Fayemi, has been instructed not to have anything to do with Fayose but should rather strive to frustrate the incoming government in any way he so wishes with the expectation that Fayose's reactions to such moves would be enough to set him against the people of the state.

PDP however described this agenda as dastardly and nefarious in its entirety, adding that it is only a set of notorious political criminals and men of retrogressive tendencies that could be thinking like this.

The party particularly expressed worries over the involvement of the former Lagos state governor, Tinubu.

According to the party, those who attended the meeting were people of diabolical mindsets who would not look at the foolishness of what they are doing nor the implications it may carry, rather what is paramount to them is what would come into their pockets or go into their bank account at the end of every evil machinations they so perpetrated.

” These APC leaders should however be reminded that they have destroyed many careers and disorganised many straight ways in Nigeria before; now the game is up for them and their stinking desires.

“We equally want to remind officials of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission how the APC leaders destroyed the career of the retired president of the Court of Appeal, Ayo Salami, who left judiciary with bruises all over due to his unholy alliance with them.

“These people are vampires; they are in Nigerian politics for blood not for her well-being, hence we warn the EFCC as an institution to run away from the cabal whose major assignment is to cause mayhem and destruction in Nigeria,” PDP stated.
