Pensioneers name Hon. Usman Durkwa as Sardauna of Pensioneers.

Pensioneers in Borno State have honoured the Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Special Education , Hon, Usman Mamman Durkwa as the Sardauna of Pensioneers in recognition of his immense contribution to their welfare.

The honour was given when they paid a courtesy call on the him at his residence in Maiduguri where they enumerated the variuos assistance to include giving seats to them to perform the Hajj and Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, distribution of foodstuff during Ramadan and financial assistance to members at different times.

Alhaji Mohammed , chairman of the Pensioneers said," we have come to your house to honour you because of what you have been doing for our members in form of assistance. We have never paid visits to any politician but you different from the others.

"When people keep talking about the late Sardauna it is becsuse of his good works however government officials do not follow his footsteps. It is gladdening to us to see that you always emulate him there Pensioneers in Borno have unanimously decided to name you THE SARDAUNA OF PENSIONEERS" he said.

Responding Hon. Usman Mamman Durkwa ssid he was humbled by the show of solidarity and respect and he urged them to also find time to pay coutesy call on the Executive governor who is a listening governor and everready to assist thrm in whatever way.

In another development the Honourable Commissioner of Religious affairs in his usual manner has commensed the distribution of foodstuff to the people if Southern Borno in preparation for the Ramadan.

Already three truckloads of rice and sugar have been sent to Hawul while others are on their way to the remaining local government areas as his personal contribution to ease the hardship on people during the fasting period.
