Yobe Engages 52 Fresh Graduate Nurses, Midwives

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 24, (THEWILL) – In order to meet the shortfall of medical staff in Yobe State hospitals, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, Tuesday, approved the immediate employment of 52 fresh graduate nurses and midwives into the state civil service.

Also, the government assured 104 medical students from the state currently studying in various higher learning across the country and overseas on a monthly salary Grade Level (GL) 06 Step 1 of immediate employment after their training.

A statement issued by the governor's spokesman, Mallam Abdullahi Bego, said: “His Excellency Governor Ibrahim has given approval for the immediate recruitment of 52 nurses who have successfully graduated as nurses after passing their Nursing and Midwifery Council Examinations.

“All 52 nurses will be placed on the appropriate Salary Scale applicable to nurses in the state.

“Similarly, His Excellency the governor has approved the placement of 104 medical students currently studying medicine in various institutions of higher learning on a monthly salary on GL 06 Step 1. The salary commensurate with this Grade Level will be paid the medical students on a monthly basis until they graduate as doctors.

“The Yobe State Government will also automatically employ the medical students after their graduation as doctors.”

According to the statement, the approvals were part of ongoing effort to re-position the state's healthcare sector and improve patient care and service delivery.

“The Yobe State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Gaidam will continue to take proactive steps to improve the living conditions of the people of the state,” the statement assured.
