Fayose is new Ekiti state Governor…Beat Fayemi by over 100,000 votes.

A former  Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has won the Ekiti State governorship election.

He  defeated the incumbent governor, Kayode Fayemi to win by a very wide margin.

In the election which was adjudged to be free and fair and devoid of violence by the INEC and election observers, Fayose polled 203,090 votes as against Governor Kayode Fayemi who got 120, 433 votes.

According to  the returning officer, Prof Isaac Asuzu, Fayose  won the highest votes in each of the 16 local governments areas  thereby defeating Governor Fayemi at his local government (Oye),  former governors Segun Oni at  Ido Osi and Niyi Adebayo at Irepodun/Ifelodun.

In his words, “Ayodele Peter Fayose of PDP having certified the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”

Mr. Fayose defeated Mr. Fayemi by a wide margin, polling 203, 090 votes while Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) scored 120, 433 votes. The third contender from the Labor Party, Opeyemi Bamidele, only managed to win 18, 135 votes.

Fayemi has already congratulated the victor . He said ” i have just spoken with my brother Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose, congratulating him on his victory. In a few hours from now, i would be meeting the Governor-elect to discuss the future of our dear state and how we would work together to institute a smooth transition programme”
