Following what it describes a persistent false claims, capable of causing monumental breach of public peace and civil disturbance in parts of the country, particularly Rivers State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter, urges security agencies to immediately arrest the State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, who has consistently engaged in dirty and unlawful assignments on behalf of the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The PDP says in as much as she might claim to be carrying out State duty, the Commissioner is seen to have deviated from doing her job of informing the people on the programmes and activities of government as she has in recent times fed the public with lies and slanderous statements on the federal government and the President of the country, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

The PDP recalls that the Commissioner had on several occasions made and published spurious allegations bordering on security situations in the country, including the issues surrounding the purchase and grounding of the Aircraft allegedly bought and owned by the Rivers State Government, the impeachment plot against Amaechi she alleged to have been planned by the PDP lawmakers, and the latest falsehood on the purported threat to shoot Governor Amaechi on highway.

These allegations to the PDP are so sensitive such that could cause total breakdown of law and order in the State and should therefore not be taken with levity by the Federal Government and relevant security agencies, particularly the Police and the State Security Service, SSS.

In like manner, the Peoples Democratic Party says it does not see any justification for the like of the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, not to have been arrested till date after consciously lying to the public against the Police, accusing them of killing five innocent children during the Save Rivers Movement's rally in Port Harcourt early this year, when another blatant lie was leveled against same police on the shooting of Senator Magnus Abe.

The PDP expresses serious displeasure over the refusal of the Police to arrest these agents of blackmail who should be better treated as security risk in the interest of peace in the State.

Meanwhile, the PDP highly commends security officials, who intercepted at Akure over N1bn conveyed in a private Jet used by Governor Amaechi yesterday, June 19, 2014, intended to be given to the APC Governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of Ekiti State to enable him smoothly pursue his election activities, including rigging and hiring of political thugs during the guber poll tomorrow (Saturday).

While condemning Governor Amaechi's action of misappropriating Rivers State funds in illegally executing the APC election in other States, including the Ekiti State governorship election, the PDP expresses satisfaction over the brilliant and professional manner the security agents adopted in intercepting the planned movement of such huge funds to Ekiti State.

The PDP further reiterates its earlier calls on the security personnel and the EFCC to be more vigilant and to ensure that stiff security checks and measures are beefed up in Rivers State and around the APC governors and leaders, who are bent on frustrating the good and genuine intentions of the federal government, with the fabulous resources they have access to in their various State.

On our own part as Party, we again reassure the people of the State, the Police and sister agencies of our support and cooperation in ensuring peace, development and sustenance of our democracy in the State and the nation.
