Obasanjo facilitated my apex bank job — Lemo

By The Citizen

A former Deputy-Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) (Operations), Tunde Lemo, says former President Olusegun Obasanjo influenced his acceptance of the CBN top job.

Lemo spoke during a grand reception organised for him by sons and daughters of Egba, where he charged Egba sons and daughters to continue to be united, adding that the unity among traditional rulers in the land should be strengthened for peaceful co-existence.

'One of the things that influenced me in taking up the CBN job at that time despite the unimpressive salary that was to be paid, was Chief Obasanjo, looking at him with the zeal with which he was serving his fatherland was enough motivation for me', he said.

'On security challenge, whenever a country has the kind of challenge in the magnitude of the kind we have in Nigeria, politics always take the rear stage and we all rally round the leadership and support them to ensure that we all solve the problem.

' I want us to do same for the government that we have at the federal and state levels so that we can chase this monster and then after go back to our politics'.

Lemo bowed out after 10 years at the apex bank.
