Emir of Gombe Alhaji Shehu Usman Abubakar is dead.

Aged 78, the Emir died Tuesday morning in an undisclosed hospital in the United Kingdom, palace sources told Pointblanknews.com.

His remains, Pointblanknews.com gathered, will be flown into Nigeria on Wednesday for burial same day in Gombe.

Abubakar, the 11th emir of Gombe, ascended the throne in

January 1984. He reigned for 30 years.
He was a retired permanent secretary and is credited with drafting the memo that led the late General Sani Abacha to create Gombe State.
