4 Escape Death As Truck Crashes

Four people narrowly escaped death on Thursday at Abule-Egba, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, when a truck conveying cement from Ibese, Ogun State, to Akute also in Ogun State, upturned.

The driver of the truck and his three assistants identified as Ibraheem Sanni, 20, a native of Kano State, Abibu Isiaka, 20, from Kano State, Yinusa Sanni, 50, also from Kano State and the driver Gideon Oyegun, 30, an indigene of Edo State, survived the crash.

An eyewitness at the scene, Mr. Shola Oni, told our reporter that the driver of the truck lost control at Ore Metta sharp corner, Abule Egba, Fagba area when the rear of the truck swerved to the right side and pulled off from the trunk, adding that the driver then crashed the trunk of the truck into a container.

The driver and his  assistants were rushed to Mercy Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Oyegun said 'as I was turning at the corner, the cement shifted to the right side and the body pulled off from the head.  I had four phones and N47,000 in the vehicle and I have been calling all the four phones the police collected but they don't want to give me my phones and money back.'

When P.M.NEWS visited Oko-Oba Police Station where the accident was reported, the trunk of the trailer was seen parked at the police station.

A police man at the station declined to speak about the incident in the absence of the DPO, Akintade Williams.
