Islamic Singer Ariyo Dies

Popular Islamic music artiste, Alhaji Waheed Yusuf Ariyo otherwise called Waheed Ariyo is dead.

He died early Friday morning at about 1 a.m. at the University Teaching Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State, western Nigeria.

He was reported to have collapsed after eating during a stop-over in Ibadan on his way to Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State and was rushed to UCH, Ibadan.

According to Alhaji Amodu Alawiye, his colleague who organised Ariyo's 50th birthday celebration four years ago, 'Ariyo was travelling to Ajase Ipo, Kwara State, for the house commissioning of a member of his group, (BASMAN) Thursday during which the incident occurred'.

He will be buried Friday evening according to Islamic rites in his house at 1, Okesuna Street, Sango-Ijoko road, Sango Otta, Ogun State. Ariyo, 54, hailed from Iwo, Osun State, southwest Nigeria, and is survived by wives and children.
