Unknown gunmen Tuesday in Shira, Bauchi State, killed a soldier and carted away huge quantities of dynamite belonging to Mothercat, a local construction company.

Dynamite is a very powerful explosive used by construction companies to blast rocks and huge boulders.

Details of how the attackers struck were sketchy, but a military source confirmed to Pointblanknews.com that one soldier was killed by the gunmen before looting the explosives.

Another source claimed that some soldiers gave the gunmen a hot chase and recovered some of the stolen dynamites.

Mothercat is one of the construction companies handling the Kano-Maiduguri expressway.

This is the first time gunmen would be targeting dynamites used by construction companies.

A security source hinted that dynamites may have been used in the early Monday attack that killed over 100 persons in Abuja.
