The lawmaker who was represented by Alhaji Akeusure Bareehu, an APC Chieftain in the district, said at the senator's constituency office on CMD road, Ikosi- Ketu, that the weekly empowerment programme has become a household name in the district. " In this year alone, between the month of March and April, not less than 56 artisans that have lost hope on how to get their working tools after acquiring the technical know-how have been empowered with different empowerment tools such as Sewing Machines, Industrial Wheeping Machines, Barbing Kits, vulcanizing Machines, Refrigerators with Power Generating Sets, Catering tools and cash assistance among others.

"It is high time Nigerian Youths began to think of what they can use their hands to do through vocational skills and not to be seeking white Cola job that is visibly absent." He said

Ashafa, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, Lands and Urban Development enjoined all the beneficiaries to use the empowerment tools for their own benefit.

In response to the gesture, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Yemi Araba, a hair dresser, who was empowered with a drier, showers words of praise on the lawmaker for being part of this week's empowerment programme and also promised not to disappoint the lawmaker by using the tool for a source of living and for the benefit of herself and people around her.

"Ashafa is indeed the man of the people, I don't know where I would have seen the money to acquire this empowerment tool, thank God it came at the right time when I almost lost hope, God will continue to bless him too for this gesture" he said.
