2015: Jonathan, PDP Lack Moral Right To Campaign In The Niger Delta—APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter, has declared that President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lack the moral right to campaign in the Niger Delta during the 2015 general elections.
This, according to the party, is due to the total and deliberate neglect of the region by the PDP-led Federal Government under the watch of Jonathan despite the fact that the President comes from the region and received the highest number of votes from the area during the 2011 presidential polls.
'Certainly, President Jonathan and the PDP have lost every moral right to come and ask the people of the Niger Delta for their votes in 2015 considering the wickedness they have exhibited towards the people of the region,' Rivers APC said this afternoon in a statement issued by the State Interim Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.
According to the party, 'Even though they lack shame, President Jonathan and PDP should for once respect themselves and stay away from the Niger Delta since even his kinsmen in Bayelsa State have rejected him for disappointing them. This fact was made clear by the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, who during his solidarity visit to Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, last weekend declared that most Bayelsans are frustrated with the Jonathan administration and want change even though the President is from the state.
'As Chief Sylva rightly did say, Jonathan's Presidency has brought nothing but shame and opened cracks in the unity of the people of the South-South geo-political zone. Jonathan's occupation of the Aso Presidential Villa has proved to be a curse rather than a blessing to the Niger Delta. The situation is so bad that the Jonathan Presidency has failed to reconstruct the East-West road, which links the South-South with the South-Western parts of the country.'
Rivers APC commended Ex-Governor Sylva for having the courage to speak the truth despite his blood relationship with President Jonathan and congratulated him on his emergence as the leader of APC in Bayelsa State.
'We in Rivers APC look forward to collaborating with Chief Sylva and other progressives in Bayelsa and throughout the country to sweep away the evil PDP Government that has brought only misery to the Niger Delta and to Nigerians at large,' the statement concluded.
Long Life APC!
