BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 03, (THEWILL) - The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has assured members of the party that there would not be any imposition of candidates in the congresses of the party.

Tinubu spoke on Wednesday at the party's State secretariat in Lagos at the Stakeholders' Forum called by the party to sensitise members on the coming congresses.

The event also witnessed the return to the party of former prominent members of the party who had earlier defected to other parties .

They are former Deputy Governor of the state during the regime of Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, Chief Rafiu Bakare Adeyefa Jafojo; and a former House of Representatives member in the Second Republic, Chief Rasheed Shitta-Bey known to many as Jabita.

Tinubu, who was so elated at their return, rechristened Jafojo As Bababowale (our elder has returned home) and Shitta-Bey as Adebowale (the crown is back home).

On the APC congresses which start on Saturday with the ward congress, Tinubu maintained that the party remains committed to democratic principle hence it will ensure that the voice and choice of party members emerge at the end of the day.

"We will not impose any candidate on our members.
It is you all here whowill make your choices during the congresses and other intra-partyelections," he assured.

The APC National Leader however stated that where there has been an agreement on harmonising the list of executive members, the congress will take an affirmation form.

"However, if there is any single dissent from any quarter, then there will be election of executive members with members falling behind candidates of their choice," he said.

Tinubu also warned trouble makers to steer clear of the congress venues, saying any member indicted for any violence act will be sanctioned by the party leadership.

Present at the forum were party leaders, including the interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande; the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN; the interim state Chairman of APC, Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale; cabinet members from the state; local government chairmen and councillors and leaders like former Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives and two time Chairman of Agege Local Government, Chief Enoch Kolapomoye Ajiboso; another former Commissioner in the state, Chief Kaoli Olusanya; an ex-Commissioner in the state Local Government Service Commission, Fouad Oki; and other prominent leaders of the party.
