President Jonathan Mourns G.O.K. Ajayi, Emir Of Agaie

SAN FRANCISCO, March 31, (THEWILL) - President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday said he has received with sadness, news of the passing away of one of Nigeria's most distinguished legal luminaries, Chief Godwin Olusegun Kolawole Ajayi at the weekend in Lagos.

He has therefore, on behalf of himself and the Federal Government, extended sincere condolences to Chief Ajayi's family, friends, colleagues and associates in the legal profession, and the many Nigerians whose cause and rights the late legal icon vigorously defended throughout his outstanding career.

President Jonathan in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr.

Reuben Abati, urged the family of the deceased to be consoled by the knowledge that Chief Ajayi lived a very fulfilled life, and will even in death, continue to serve as an enduring model of dedication to truth, equity and justice for all.

The President also commiserated with Governor Babangida Aliyu, the people of Niger State and the Agaie Emirate on the sudden death of the Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar, at the relatively young age of 52.

President Jonathan in the same statement by Abati prayed that Almighty Allah will grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the pain of losing the Emir at a time when he still had so much to offer his community through wise and selfless leadership.
