Foiled Jailbreak Bid: FG Urged To Relocate Presidential Villa To South South

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, March 31, (THEWILL) - The Federal Government has been urged to consider relocating the seat of power, the Aso Rock Villa, in Abuja to somewhere in the South South.

The call followed the Sunday morning foiled jail break attempt at the Abuja headquarters of the State Security Service (SSS) by some detained Boko Haram suspects during which 21 suspects were killed and four officials, including two SSS officers, were injured.

An outlawed militant group, the Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF), made the call in a statement issued immediately after the attempted jail break was foiled on Sunday.

"After studying the security situation in some parts of the North,including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja over Boko Haram insurgency,the top echelon of our great organisation, rising from an emergency security meeting today(Sunday) has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to relocate the Presidency to a safer south-south region, especially Bayelsa State on security grounds to run the affairs of the nation as the constitution demands," the outlawed group said.

The group further stated; "We are taken aback as Boko Haram is trying to make its threat to come to pass to kill President Goodluck Jonathan by taking a heavy gun battle to seat of power in Aso Rock Villa today, (Sunday).

" In a statement signed by its spokesman, Captain Mark Anthony, the group said; "During the military era of former President Ibrahim Babangida,due to insecurity at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, the office of the then military Head of State was relocated to Abuja.

"What happened today is a failed coup and should be investigated properly with culprits punished according to the law.

" According to the group, "We have in recent times volunteered to provide security for Mr.

President and his immediate family members until he leaves office and as things stand, we are still appealing to Mr.

President to recall some of our 'suicide fighters' who are on various amnesty training ground to protect his life.

"We don't have absolute confident any more on our security forces to provide protection to Mr.

President as glaring scenes are abound on inside conspiracy from top security agents on the growing insecurity in the nation.

"We are more concerned now when the President has not been hurt by the Boko Haram militants.

We do not want to fight back as revenge mission, watching our President being killed, injured or captured alive.

"President Goodluck Jonathan is our eye in Aso Rock who was elected unanimously by Nigerians to placate our anger and demand for resource control during the gun battle in Niger Delta.

"We are appealing to parents in the North to warn their wards/children to be mindful of the action as the consequence would consume everybody in Nigeria.

"Even though, we have surrendered our weapons to the Federal Government, our peaceful disposition should not be seen as cowardice or stupidity as our past stunning operations is like that of Hollywood tricks.

"We cannot fold our hands and allow Boko Haram to 'capture' or kill President Goodluck Jonathan and install a Northern President to turn entire nation to Islam and slaves again.
