No attack on the presidential villa - Reuben Abati

Presidential spokesman,  Reuben Abati, today in Abuja said there was no armed attack on the presidential villa.

According to him the spate of gunfire heard sround the villa, was as result of attempted jail break by some Boko Haram insurgents held at the office of Department of State Security within the precinct of the villa

Residents of the Asokoro Abuja area early Sunday morning woke up to the sound of heavy gunfire around the villa, fueling speculation that Aso Rock was under attack.

According to Abati, a gunfight ensued ehen some indurgents who tried to escape engaged operatives in a shootout.

Pointblanknews.com learnt that trouble started when  one of the detainees disarmed and shot the operative who came to give him breakfast.

He was said to have shot his way into the cells of his comrades and set his comrades free.

While they were being overpowered,  military helicopters combed the area.

It was gathered that 18 insurgents were killed, 20 re arrested,  two rifles recovered and two operatives injured.
