Boko Haram: 10 Persons Killed In Fresh Borno Attack

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, March 25, (THEWILL) - A fresh Boko Haram attack in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Tuesday morning, killed 10 persons, including five policemen.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Maiduguri near Dalori Housing Estate.

Eye witness account of the attack said two Volkswagen Golf cars vehicles driven by the suicide bombers simultaneously rammed into a police patrol Toyota Hilux van, killing the five policemen, three other civilians and the two suicide bombers who drove the two cars.

Many other persons sustained severe injuries in the attack which shook the entire town with security operatives mounting checks in different parts of the town.

Soldiers of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army with a combined team of mobile policemen and youth vigilante group popularly called Civilian JTF immediately swung into action combing the area for some of the attackers believed to still be at large.

The scene of the incident was immediately cordoned off to prevent further attacks as vehicles moving to and from the area were thoroughly searched.

The Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, DSP Gideon Jubrin, confirmed the attack, disclosing that the five policemen who died in the attack were attached to the Federal Highway Patrol team.

He also revealed that three civilians and the two suicide bombers died on the spot.

A Civilian JTF member, Ibrahim Haruna, who also confirmed the incident, said he saw the mangled bodies of the police officers immediately after the explosion.

" Around 9am when we heard a loud bang,we mobilised to the scene where we discovered that it was a suicide bomb attack on a police patrol vehicle.

I saw five bodies of policemen scattered all over the place," he said.
