The foremost Ijaw Youth Council (Worldwide) weekend  described the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as an amalgam of  greedy and power hungry politicians.

The group said  APC's  sole aim is to wreak havoc everywhere with intent to take power from President Goodluck Jonathan and not to solve Nigeria's problems.

In a statement signed by IYC's spokesman, Eric Omare,   the group said  rather than offer alternative solutions to problems plaguing  the nation, what APC does is to pour diatribe on daily basis on the person of President  Jonathan.

IYC's reaction came on the backdrop of a news report credited to APC's spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in which he was quoted to have said that President  Jonathan is not the first minority to rule Nigeria but most incompetent with poor leadership style and cluelessness.

The IYC statement however said that making abuse of President Jonathan as one of its cardinal objectives, only shows that the opposition APC is a party of a "bunch of greed, corrupt and power hungry politicians", whose sole aims is to wreak havoc everywhere in the country.

While expressing disappointment at the APC's statement, the Ijaw youths described as "uncultured and disrespectful," the opposition party which they said had made "insulting" on the occupant of the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria one of its manifesto.

"Every Nigerian irrespective of his political affiliation is duty bound and ought to respect the office of the President and the occupant of the office", the youths advised.

"By making abusing President Jonathan its manifesto, it clearly shows that APC's sole purpose is to take power from President Jonathan and not to solve the problems confronting Nigeria.

" According to the group, "By its conduct, the APC has shown that it is a congregation of power hungry politicians who want to take over the Presidency from President Goodluck Jonathan at all costs.

" The group however expressed confidence that the APC's plans against Jonathan would fail, saying the party is doomed for massive electoral shock and defeat in 2015.

It said contrary to the assertion of the APC, the facts on ground suggest that President Jonathan has performed credibly  and far above any other Nigerian President within the period he has been in office.

"The truth is that the establishment elements in the opposition APC are using their entrenched positions to create a false impression that President Jonathan is not performing contrary to the facts on ground," it said.

The multifarious problems confronting Nigeria were not created by President Jonathan and did not also start under him, IYC said.

While appealing to Nigerians to support President Jonathan in his efforts towards moving Nigeria forward, the group stated that the PDP was right to say that the opposition is behind the acts of Boko Haram insurgency in the Northern part of the country.

"It is an open secret that leading opposition figures such as General Mohammadu Buhari and Mallam El Rufai are very sympathetic to the activities of Boko Haram and indeed has spoken in support of Boko Haram in the past.

Meanwhile, IYC has endorsed the use of maximum force to tame the Boko Haram, saying: "We wholeheartedly endorse  the decision of President Jonathan to apply fire for fire in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency .

"We strongly believe that this is the solution to the Boko Haram problem.

However, we dare to further call for use of maximum force to crush and flush out not only Boko Haram members, their sponsors, those sympathetic to them or anybody that is in any way connected to the activities of Boko Haram.

'It is now crystal clear that Boko Haram's sole agenda is to violently over take the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and declare Nigeria an Islamic state.

"If Boko Haram is not stopped with immediate effect, they would soon extend their activities to other parts of the country.

"The audacity with which they attacked military barracks in Maiduguri recently is an indication of Boko Haram's intentions.

"This intention of Boko Haram is treasonable and against the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.
